What could I use to cover tables at a wedding that’s cheap?

My wedding reception is at a decent location and I’ll have about 20 tables. Since the location was a little over budget, my mom says I’ve got to go cheap for the table covers. She suggested plastic, which I know I can get for a few bucks a piece. I’d rather have cloth table linens, but the cheapest I’ve found to rent/buy are 10$ apiece and that’s too much. Any suggestion for not cheap-looking table clothes?

Your venue doesn’t cover your tables? I guess you’ll have to use plastic, cheap plastic.

Try a fabric store, look for sales, closeouts. Similar shades or contrasting colors could work if there’s not enough of one color, then just find a friend with a sewing machine to finish the hems.

ok, hear me out on this. my brother and his wife had white paper on their tables, then put crayons out so guests could draw and doodle congradulations and silly little pictures. everyone LOVED it. the kids were occupied while parents were danceing. everyone liked personalizing their seat with their name and best wishes for the couple, and my brother and his wife kept the best ones (some got water spilled on them) and made a scrapbook with the doodles, congrats, and pictures from their wedding.

it sounds so corney at first but then people got there ans LOVED it. plus my brother and his wife got a scrap book out of it.

head off to costco – they have excellent quality paper table linens for very reasonable prices. their products are very luxurious – i know it sounds odd using that word for paper but tis true. they also have dinner and cocktail napkins in the same good quality and its all very inexpensive – i think the table linens are three to a pack and if i’m not mistaken they are around $11.00-12.00 per pack! napkins are just as inexpensive! and at the end of the night you just roll it all up and toss it out!
i am sure you won’t be disappointed.
    happy wedding sweetie!

go to your local dollar store, dollar general that type of store, and you can find round or rectangle for around 5.00 each. if they have enough of your color. or try your local party store, sometimes they have certain colored ones on sale.

Look for something that isn’t a table cloth, like a closeout on material, and then just stich up around the edges yourself. Online or at a really cheap fabric store you can make them for a few dollars, plus the work. . . Otherwise, get plastic, but just nice as possible. I-Party has some that are nice, they are sort of like, sparkly and not plastic like you think of at a kids birthday party, just very thin. We used them at an engagement party, and people thought we got them somewhere fancy, meanwhile they were about $4 each, and we had the coupon IParty always has for 10% off your total! LOL Either way, when you’re there, and having a great time, it’ll be the last thing you think about – enjoy your wedding!

Get plastic table covers (or a thicker paper cover) in a soft/warm color at your local party store or Wal Mart. Once you have decorated them with a centerpiece etc. you wont even notice the plastic. Cleaning after will be a breeze as well.
